This project is a fork of Ampleforth, which operates under the codename "UFragments". The primary function of reB∆SE is to maintain a stable unit price by directly adjusting the supply of tokens in holders' wallets. This is achieved through an algorithmic process called "rebasing," where the total circulating supply of the token is automatically adjusted rather than remaining fixed. These adjustments are triggered by specific protocols or algorithms. The goal of rebase tokens, in general, is to either reflect changes in the token's underlying value or to distribute accrued rewards, such as interest, directly to token holders by modifying their balances. In practice, this means that the number of 'Rebase' tokens in a user's wallet can automatically increase or decrease based on market conditions or price targets, without the user needing to execute any buy or sell orders. This mechanism aims to create price stability without relying on traditional fiat backing or collateralized reserves, as seen in some stablecoins. While the number of tokens may change, the theoretical aim is to keep the total value of a user's holdings relatively constant after a rebase. The reB∆SE protocol's smart contracts are implemented on the Ethereum blockchain. Unlike standard cryptocurrencies where price fluctuates with demand against a generally constant supply, rebase tokens use supply expansion or contraction to absorb value changes, with the price per token aiming for greater stability or a specific target.
