Qubit (QBT) is a decentralized finance (DeFi) lending and borrowing protocol that primarily operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). It was launched in 2021 with the goal of facilitating cross-chain liquidity and enhancing the efficiency of decentralized trading. The project aimed to provide users with accessible and low-cost DeFi lending services. The native governance and utility token of the protocol is QBT. This token serves several purposes within the Qubit ecosystem, including allowing holders to participate in governance by voting on protocol parameters and changes. QBT tokens are also distributed to participants, such as liquidity providers, as rewards. Users could stake QBT to earn rewards and contribute to the network's stability. Key features of Qubit included its BSC-based infrastructure, designed for fast transactions and low fees, and its support for multiple crypto assets for lending and borrowing. The protocol allowed users to supply crypto assets as collateral to borrow against them or lend assets to earn interest. Qubit originated with its whitepaper in September 2020, launched its testnet in December 2020, and transitioned to its mainnet in March 2021. However, in January 2022, Qubit Finance experienced a significant security breach that exploited a vulnerability in its bridge contract. This event heavily impacted the project's trajectory.
