The Oasis Network is a Layer 1 decentralized blockchain designed for scalability, privacy, and versatility. It primarily focuses on enabling confidential smart contracts and decentralized applications, aiming to provide a secure environment for Web3 and open finance. The native token of the Oasis Network is ROSE. The network features a two-layer architecture comprising a Consensus Layer and a ParaTime Layer. The Consensus Layer is a scalable, high-throughput, Proof-of-Stake system secured by validator nodes. The ParaTime Layer hosts multiple parallel runtimes, known as ParaTimes, which are independent computing environments for processing transactions. This separation allows for enhanced scalability and efficiency, as complex workloads in one ParaTime do not impede simpler transactions in another. Oasis Network prioritizes privacy and confidentiality. It utilizes confidential computing technologies, such as Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), to ensure that data remains private even from node operators during smart contract execution. This allows for the creation of confidential decentralized applications. The Oasis Privacy Layer (OPL) and Oasis Sapphire, a confidential Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enable end-to-end encrypted transactions and storage, providing customizable privacy features for dApps. The ROSE token serves several core functions within the network. It is used to pay transaction fees, for staking to secure the network, and for participation in governance. Users can stake ROSE to become validators or delegate their tokens to existing validators to contribute to network security. ROSE tokens also support the ParaTime layer, for example, by paying for services or data related to applications running on it. The Oasis Network aims to facilitate various use cases requiring privacy, such as confidential DeFi, private data sharing, and secure AI computation where large, private datasets are needed for model development. While Oasis Network provides a platform for confidential computing, its native token ROSE does not inherently possess privacy features in the same way as traditional "privacy coins," meaning ROSE transactions are traceable.
