MetalSwap (XMT) is a decentralized Web3 project that offers hedging contracts for digital assets in financial markets, aiming to provide protection against market volatility. The platform enables decentralized swaps of commodities and cryptocurrency pairs without traditional intermediaries, reducing costs and time constraints through the use of smart contracts. MetalSwap launched in November 2021. The core function of MetalSwap is to allow users to hedge against price fluctuations of digital assets. It achieves this through a set of smart contracts, initially deployed on the Ethereum blockchain, and has since expanded its operations to include Optimism's Layer-2, Linea Layer-2, BNB Chain, and Polygon. MetalSwap intends to facilitate financial swaps on cryptocurrency pairs and synthetic metal assets using an Automated Market Maker (AMM) style. The system operates with publicly accessible pooled liquidity, where participants (Liquidity Providers) contribute and are rewarded with the project's governance token. The XMT token is the governance token of the MetalSwap project and represents voting power within the MetalSwap Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). Holders of XMT tokens can participate in making and voting on proposals to influence the protocol's development and changes. While not required to hold XMT to use hedging contracts, the token plays a role in the platform's incentive system, including staking and farming. MetalSwap's features include hedging contracts, liquidity pools, exchange functionalities, governance mechanisms, and various types of pools like Smart Pools. The project was co-founded by Tiziano Tridico, Paolo Luini, and Umberto Prestini. MetalSwap's goal is to make financial markets more accessible and efficient for those dealing with commodities by removing the need for bank credit lines and offering 24/7 market access.
