Meta Pool DAO (mpDAO) represents the core governance system for the Meta Pool ecosystem, emphasizing transparency, inclusivity, and decentralization. Its primary goal is to foster community-driven governance, allowing the community to actively participate in decision-making, proposal approvals, and resource allocation. This system is designed to shape the future development of Meta Pool's liquid staking and decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. The mpDAO token is the governance token for Meta Pool, enabling community management of the protocol. Holders of mpDAO tokens can participate in voting processes to influence the platform's direction. This includes determining which grants to fund from monthly protocol fees, selecting validators to receive extra stake, and choosing projects to launch on the Meta Pool Launchpad. Active voters are compensated for their participation in governance, with a portion of protocol fees distributed to those who lock their tokens and use their voting power. The mpDAO token is available in two formats: NEP-141 on the NEAR Protocol and as a native ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network. It has a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens. In April 2024, Meta Pool migrated its governance token from the previous $META token to the new $mpDAO token as part of an initiative to align with a multichain governance vision. This transition allows users to participate in shaping the protocol's future across multiple blockchain networks. Meta Pool aims to provide easy and permissionless access to Web3 financial tools, supporting liquid staking tokens across various blockchains like Ethereum, NEAR, Solana, and Aurora. The project also engages in partnerships, such as with QiDAO to enhance stablecoin issuance and with Ref Finance to launch staking pools.
