What exactly is haSUI and how is it different from SUI?
haSUI is a yield-bearing receipt token received when you stake SUI through the Haedal Protocol. Unlike native staking where your tokens are "locked," haSUI is liquid, meaning you can still trade, lend, or use it as collateral in other decentralized finance (DeFi) applications while your original SUI earns validator rewards.
Is haSUI pegged 1:1 with SUI?
No. haSUI follows a value-accruing model. Initially, 1 haSUI equals 1 SUI. Over time, as staking rewards accumulate in the pool, the exchange rate increases. For instance, 1 haSUI might later be worth 1.05 SUI. You do not receive "new" tokens; instead, your existing haSUI becomes redeemable for more SUI.
How do I earn and claim my rewards?
Rewards are automatically compounded. You do not need to manually claim them. The value of your haSUI increases relative to SUI at the end of every epoch (approximately every 24 hours on the Sui network). When you eventually unstake, you receive your original principal plus the accrued rewards.
How do I unstake haSUI and how long does it take?
There are two primary ways to get your SUI back. Regular Unstake through the Haedal dApp takes 1–2 epochs (approx. 24–48 hours) with no protocol fee, but requires waiting for the unbonding period. Instant Unstake, supported by SIP33, provides SUI immediately for a small fee (currently 0.02%). Alternatively, you can swap haSUI for SUI on a decentralized exchange, depending on market liquidity and potential slippage.
Where can I use haSUI in the Sui ecosystem?
The utility of haSUI is a key aspect. Current integrations include: Lending/Borrowing, where you can use haSUI as collateral on lending protocols to borrow stablecoins or SUI. Liquidity Provision, by providing haSUI/SUI liquidity on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) to earn additional trading fees and incentive rewards. What are the fees associated with Haedal?
Haedal charges a 6% commission on the rewards generated by the validators, not on your principal. For unstaking, there is a 0% fee for regular unstaking, and approximately 0.02% for instant unstaking.
