Galxe, originally known as Project Galaxy, is a Web3 credential data network that aims to establish an open and collaborative infrastructure for digital credentials. Launched in January 2023 by the Project Galaxy Team, its core purpose is to help Web3 developers and projects build products, engage communities, and utilize credential data more effectively. The platform addresses the issue of fragmented credential data, which is often stored in closed databases, making it difficult for individuals to prove their digital achievements and identities. Galxe's infrastructure allows users to curate and contribute to its Credential Data Network, incorporating both on-chain credentials (like contributions to subgraph queries) and off-chain credentials (integrated from sources such as Twitter and Github). Key features and products within the Galxe ecosystem include: Galxe Identity Protocol: A technology utilizing privacy-preserving Zero-Knowledge (ZK) technology to enable secure and seamless integration of digital identities across various platforms. Galxe Passport: This serves as a decentralized identity solution, akin to a Web3 LinkedIn, allowing users to build and manage their on-chain verifiable identities. It functions as a unique, non-transferable Soulbound Token. Galxe Quest: A platform designed for Web3 projects to create and manage communities through incentivized campaigns, where users can earn rewards like NFTs, On-chain Achievement Tokens (OATs), and loyalty points for completing specific tasks. Galxe Score: This provides a Web3 reputation score that reflects a user's digital identity within the metaverse and other virtual environments. Galxe Compass: A hub that assists users in discovering earning opportunities by participating in decentralized networks, utilizing AI to compile detailed watchlists of relevant opportunities. The project was co-founded by Harry Zhang and Charles Wayn. Galxe boasts a significant user base of over 11 million unique users and has established partnerships with more than 2,700 entities, including major players like Optimism, Polygon, and Arbitrum. Initially, the governance token for Galxe was GAL, used for voting in the Galxe DAO and for paying application module fees. However, in July 2024, the GAL token was migrated to 'G', becoming the native utility token for the newly introduced Gravity blockchain. Gravity is a Layer 1 blockchain developed to support mass adoption and an omnichain future for the Galxe ecosystem.
