AgentLayer is a crypto/Web3 project that aims to create a decentralized network for autonomous artificial intelligence agents. It combines blockchain technology with AI to facilitate the creation, deployment, and coordination of these AI agents. AgentLayer's vision is to build an ecosystem where AI agents can operate autonomously with human oversight, transforming various industries and enhancing productivity. The project utilizes a Byzantine fault-tolerant blockchain to establish a decentralized registry for AI services, agents, and models. Initially deployed on Base Chain, AgentLayer is evolving towards a multi-chain Agentic Layer 1 infrastructure called AgentNetwork, which will offer cross-chain capabilities. It also leverages the OP Stack and EigenDA to build AgentChain, a public blockchain designed to enhance coordination among agents. The AGENT token serves as the core of the AgentLayer ecosystem. It is integral for facilitating transactions involving AI agents. Developers use AGENT tokens to access AgentLayer's API infrastructure and unlock advanced features for AI agents. The token incentivizes participation from node operators, developers, and active community members who contribute to the network's growth. Additionally, AGENT tokens enable the on-chain minting, deployment, and trading of AI assets within the platform. AgentLayer emphasizes decentralized governance, allowing AGENT token holders to participate in decision-making processes, including protocol upgrades and resource allocation, fostering a community-driven approach. The platform also incorporates mechanisms for human oversight, such as multi-sig wallets, to ensure ethical operations and reliability of the AI agents. Key components of AgentLayer include AgentStudio, which provides tools and no-code infrastructure for developing multimodal AI agents, and AgentLink, a suite of protocols that enables multi-agent collaboration and communication by facilitating information exchange and shared incentives.
